Doug Richards, well known from his appearance on Dragon's Den and now running the School for Startups, has gotten on his soapbox (quite literally) to tell our prospective Prime Minister what it is that small business in the UK needs.
Of particular interest, is his call for faster, reliable broadband to be available to all areas of the UK. His example of the Industrial Revolution being fuelled by the physical infrastructure of railways and canals, is particularly pertinent: now in this Information Revolution, it is access to the infrastructure of the internet that will govern how successful small businesses are.
He also calls for reduced red tape for small businesses and less pressure to comply with each and every regulation in the early stages of a business startup. Such things are stifling small business's ability to succeed and flourish.
