Microsoft Technology Hub at the Yeovil Innovation Centre
On Friday afternoon I attended the opening launch of the Microsoft Technology Hub at the Yeovil Innovation Centre. Managed by Perspicuity, the Hub allows business decision makers to gain practical hands-on experience of Microsoft products and services in a jargon-free environment. Intended as a showcase of just how selecting the right technologies can improve business efficiency, the Hub is the only facility of it’s kind in the South west.
The major part of the launch took the form of a question and answer session designed to highlight how the correct products and Cloud technology can help businesses survive and thrive in the present economic environment. With the emergence of powerful new services delivered via the Cloud, such as Microsoft’s Office 365 suite, businesses can use processes to drive down costs and increase collaboration & efficiency. On the question panel were;
-
Ben Gower, Managing Director, Perspicuity
-
David Laws, MP for Yeovil
-
Alison Kerr, Partner, Albert Goodman
-
Janet Gibbons, Director of Partner Strategy and Programmes, Microsoft
-
Charlie Gilbert, Perspicuity and finalist for Apprentice of the Year
-
and Chaired by Scott Roy, of Yeovil Innovation Centre Board
The Hub will be used to host events aimed at specific business sectors or organisational size and provide opportunity for companies to make informed decisions about how relevant technology might improve their business. Events can be tailored to individual organisations.
During the day I was struck with just what a coup it was for Yeovil to have just a facility. Other similar Microsoft Technology Centres exist in the UK, but are mainly based in large cities and certainly no others are located in the South West. With the best will in the world, marketing blurb and bullet point lists of features cannot compare to the opportunity to engage directly with technology and see specifically how it could help your business. The facilities are second to none and enable business owners and managers to get out of the office, away from distractions and make informed decisions.
We at MonkeyPuzzle Computers will be working closely with Perspicuity to implement the kind of technologies demonstrated at the Hub for businesses within the Yeovil area. For us to be able to demonstrate solutions directly to our clients in such an environment is really very exciting. The beauty of products such as Office 365 is that the benefits apply equally to large and small businesses across all sectors.
